"The fact remains that there is no history of dance. Therefore the inappropriable, the matrix element flickering in continuous cuts, calls for rupture. Earthquake jamming with this move that wants us to call it ‘dance’. What does dance want is a question wrapped in the study of what we call ‘floor’ and that asks over and over again not where nor when the earth begins, but what does dance want, what do I owe the honour of its visit, rupture, wound, being of dance, that sweeps and carries underneath the non-commencement of history.

Tentatively titled re: leaning theory, not in the middle, Ronald Rose-Antoinette’s curatorial research residency studies the concerto of exile, inseparability, longing and queerness via the instrument of the Caribbean and its corrosive relationship to transcendance and the principle of framework tied to (western/european) arts. re: leaning theory invites artists from Turtle Island, Tiohtià:ke/Montréal, and the Caribbean to respond to/experiment with the notions of "tendency" and "caribbeanness" through a series of workshops, performances, talks and screenings.
articule is proud to announce this second Curatorial Research Residency for Indigenous Curators or Curators of Colour living in Montreal. In 2015 articule hosted its first residency, put in place to offer greater space for racialized and Indigenous artists and cultural workers in both its programming and organization. For many years, articule addresses the under-representations of racialized individuals in the Quebec art milieu.
