“I seek refuge in the forgiveness of the creator.” The forgiveness of creation. We’ve been burning ourselves; we’ve been marching, writing, calling, and disrupting. Forgive us, for behind our banners and signs we’ve also been crying for ourselves, our complicity, and our desperate humanity before unyielding empires and colonization. “Come, come, whatever you are…” Our helplessness and burnout need connection for us to keep doing this work - work which will last much longer than the echoes of Palestine are felt throughout our family. We seek justice and freedom for Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Turtle Island, and all occupied peoples around the world.

Sema means deep listening and remembrance. Join this durational ceremony with Sufi whirlers, dervishes, and musicians in remembering that our liberation is bound up in the liberation of all. From the teachings of Hazrati Mevlana Rumi and the Rifa’i-Marufi order, we ask you to participate in holding this space and giving hope and energy to those who keep fighting for the living. Come with your broken hearts and we’ll set fire to them, because to love is to bleed willingly.

Snacks, tea, and coffee will be served. We ask for donations through Operation Olive Branch, a compilation of verified fundraisers for family evacuations (learn more here). Come with comfortable clothing and good socks.

A livestream of the space will be shared through articule’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
